Optional extras on fan platforms: which add-ons are worth running
A monthly subscription feed is only one way fans pay. Platforms also offer optional extras—unlocks, tip menus, clip stores, live shows, calls, short personalized videos, wishlists and physical sales. Finish this page able to choose one extra that fits your workload and delivery limits, or choose none.
Feature sets differ by site. Confirm the live product in your account before you advertise it. For OnlyFans pricing and day-to-day ops, use the pricing guide and how to make serious money on OnlyFans.
How to choose an extra
Extras work best when fans can tell what the subscription already includes versus what costs more. State that boundary in the bio and a pinned post.
Before you open another menu, ask:
- Preparation — How much work happens before the first sale?
- Work per sale — Is each order mostly automatic delivery, or new filming and chat?
- Schedule — Do buyers need you available at set times?
- Delivery obligation — Once paid, what must you finish, and by when?
- Capacity — What breaks first: filming time, live hours, shipping, or reply time?
Choosing none is valid. A clear feed and honest tip policy can be enough. Add an extra only when you can keep the subscription promise and the extra’s delivery rules at the same time.
Workload comparison
Use this to pick a format that matches your calendar—not to rank which “earns most.”
| Format | Preparation | Work per sale | Scheduled availability | Delivery obligation | Main capacity constraint |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Reusable clips / unlocks | Film or edit once; write a clear description and price | Low after publish—buyer unlocks existing media | None required for catalog sales | Deliver the file or unlock as described | Catalog clarity and enough open feed content |
| Personalized recordings (shoutouts / short customs) | Set price, turnaround and what you will / will not film | New recording for each accepted order | Soft deadline (promised turnaround), not a live slot | Finish accepted orders within the stated window | Recording and editing hours |
| Live shows | Outline segments; gear and connection check | High during the show (host + moderate) | Yes—announced start time | Run the show you advertised; handle tips/entry as set | Live hours you can keep |
| Individual calls | Set per-minute (or session) price; decide camera rules | High during each call | Yes—availability windows | Be present for the paid time | Diary space vs filming days |
| Physical sales | Source/pack items; write shipping and hygiene rules | Pack and ship each order | Shipping cutoffs you publish | Fulfill paid orders under stated terms | Stock, postage time, compliance |
Platform examples sit beside the format notes below. Product menus change—verify before you promise a line item. For platform-by-platform choices, use OnlyFans alternatives and individual reviews (for example LoyalFans).
Payment types that are not interchangeable
| Type | What the fan is buying | Delivery duty |
|---|---|---|
| PPV / paid unlock | Access to specific media (message, and on some setups a post or stream) | The unlock must match the description |
| Voluntary tip | Optional support—often on a stream, post, DM or profile | No automatic order for a custom; any tip-amount “menu” is a creator policy, not proof the platform runs a formal order workflow |
| Paid request (shoutout, custom, call booking) | A personal recording or live session under stated rules | You owe the agreed delivery if you accept |
Do not treat a tip as a paid custom unless you and the fan have agreed terms in writing (or in the platform’s request tool). Do not treat a wishlist gift as the same as a store sale you must ship under your own fulfillment rules.
Formats (what they are and where they show up)
Reusable clips and unlocks
Job: Sell finished media once, then deliver the same file or unlock to many buyers.
OnlyFans (documented): All creators can offer pay-per-view over messages. For free profiles, PPV also extends to posts and streams (Features). That is not the same as saying every paid subscription account can lock ordinary feed posts—confirm post-lock options in your live account before you advertise them.
Clip / video store: LoyalFans documents a video store for one-off streaming or download clips, with optional discounts for subscribers, followers or groups (Video Store). ManyVids is built around clip commerce and publishes different commission lines by product type (commission percentages). JustForFans Help lists store among earning lines at the documented performer share.
Fit check: You can keep titles, previews and what is included clear. If descriptions are vague, fix the listing—that is an offer problem, not proof that unlocks are “wrong” for you.
Voluntary tips
Fans may tip streams, posts, DMs or the profile on OnlyFans (Features). Tips can sit beside a subscription without creating a second product. A tip menu (amounts you suggest for named gestures) is useful only if you can keep those gestures optional and deliverable. See also the tip menu ideas guide.
Personalized recordings
Job: Each accepted order needs a new short recording under a turnaround clock.
LoyalFans documents Shoutouts: dressed and optional nude pricing, occasion tags, 3 / 7 / 14-day turnaround, income pending until delivery, and the option to decline a request (Shoutouts).
Fit check: Cap open orders so the promised turnaround stays realistic. Missing a deadline is a capacity or process issue to fix (reprice, lengthen turnaround or pause new orders)—not automatic proof the format is unsuitable.
Live shows
Job: One-to-many realtime show with tips and, on some setups, paid entry.
OnlyFans documents livestreaming once Go Live is available on the profile, including tip goals and a browser start flow; enabling livestreaming also points to Community Guidelines (Features; How to Go Live). Confirm whether Go Live appears in your account and what entry pricing your profile type allows before you advertise a schedule. LoyalFans and JustForFans also offer live beside subscriptions. Standalone cam sites are a different product class—see the cam sites guide if that is the job.
Fit check: Keep a short segment list and a length you can finish. Needing an outline is normal preparation, not a sign you should avoid live forever.
Individual calls
Job: Paid one-to-one audio or video time, often priced per minute.
LoyalFans documents One on One: set a per-minute price, toggle availability so you appear on the call listing, and receive tips during the call (One on One).
Fit check: Price for real availability windows. If the diary fills and filming stops, raise the rate, shorten windows or pause the listing—adjust the offer rather than treating “busy” as a character flaw.
Wishlists, gifts and physical sales
Wishlists / gifts: Fans buy or send listed items for you. Receipt may be a gift, not a platform “order” with the same dispute path as a paid unlock. Keep the list honest and legal for your platform.
Physical goods you sell yourself: You set price, stock and shipping. JustForFans Help includes physical store among product lines. Selling used items has hygiene, shipping and rule constraints—use selling used underwear for that niche.
OnlyFans Spring Store (print-to-order partnership): OnlyFans documents a Spring Store profile integration for custom-branded merchandise (Features; Spring Store). The storefront can appear on your OnlyFans profile; fans complete checkout on Spring. For Spring’s print-to-order catalog, Spring handles production and shipping—you design products and connect the store URL rather than stocking and mailing those items yourself. Fan order questions for Spring purchases go through Spring support (for example Spring Fan Support / fanhelp@spri.ng), not OnlyFans creator messaging as the shipper. Creators can also list other products they produce outside Spring’s print-to-order service via Spring—those remain a different fulfillment job.
Wishlists are not the same as physical sales with fulfillment obligations you control end to end. Spring print-to-order is also not the same as shipping used items from your own inventory.
Worked example (fictional)
Alex (hypothetical) already runs a paid fitness / outfit subscription. The monthly fee covers three weekly open feed posts and replies in a stated window. Alex adds one extra: a reusable PPV message set—not customs, live or shipping.
| Item | Alex’s offer |
|---|---|
| Description | “8-photo gym-to-evening set; same looks as Tuesday’s free teaser; no customs.” |
| Example price | $15 unlock (example only—not a market rate or forecast) |
| Preparation | One shoot already done for the feed; 25 minutes to select, caption and price the message |
| Delivery | Instant unlock of the existing set after purchase |
| Capacity | No order cap (reusable). Caps replies at 30 minutes/day for questions about the set |
| Still in the subscription | Three open posts/week + the reply window above |
Assumed platform fee (for teaching math only): OnlyFans’ usual split is about 20% platform / 80% to the creator on Fan Payments before the creator’s own costs and tax (Terms). Other sites publish their own splits.
If one fan pays $15:
- Receipt after assumed platform fee: about $12.00 ($15 × 0.80)
- Profit: not shown here—Alex still owes tax, gear, time and any refunds
This example shows how to keep the subscription promise clear beside one extra. It is not an earnings forecast.
Experiment: try one extra (or stop cleanly)
Planning template
Fill this in before you advertise. Two weeks is an optional first review point—you can run longer if you need more evidence.
| Plan item | Your notes |
|---|---|
| Extra I’ll run (or “none”) | |
| What the subscription still includes | |
| Offer description | |
| Price | |
| Preparation and delivery time | |
| Capacity limit | |
| Where it’s advertised | |
| First review date |
Copy the table into notes, or print this section. Choosing “none” is a complete answer.
What to track
| Metric | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Purchases (or accepted requests) | Whether anyone bought under the stated terms |
| Receipts (after platform fees if your dashboard shows them) | Cash in—not the same as profit |
| Total work time | Prep + delivery + questions |
| Delivery problems | Late sends, wrong file, shipping issues |
| Customer questions | Unclear descriptions or price confusion |
Also note exposure where you can measure it (views, message opens, store visits). Little exposure or very few orders may leave demand unresolved—you have not proved the offer is bad, only that evidence is thin.
How to read results
- Sales with manageable work: keep or reprice the next offer slightly.
- Sales that overrun capacity: raise price, tighten the description, lower the cap or pause new orders.
- Few or no sales: check visibility and offer clarity before adding a second extra.
- Renewal patterns: look at renewals over a period long enough for your billing cycle. Do not assume a dip means the extra “ate” the feed, or that a rise proves the extra caused it—many factors move renewals.
Stopping the experiment
Stopping means no new orders for that extra (unlist, turn the toggle off, or stop promoting it). Finish existing commitments under the terms you already agreed—deliver pending shoutouts, keep call windows you sold, or ship paid physical orders.
Next step
- Use the workload comparison and pick one format—or none.
- Confirm the feature exists in your platform Help / settings for your account type.
- Fill the planning template, run the trial, then keep, reprice, pause or stop.
Usual OnlyFans fee framing remains about 80% to the creator / 20% platform on Fan Payments before your costs and tax (Terms). Read other sites’ splits separately (ManyVids publishes different lines by product type; JustForFans documents an across-the-board performer share in its percentage article).
