How to run a free OnlyFans page: posts, paid unlocks and tips

This guide helps you design and run a free OnlyFans page: what is free on the feed, what you sell as unlocks, and how you greet new followers. It does not require customs, live streams or constant private chat.

What “free page” actually means
OnlyFans documents free profiles that do not charge a monthly subscription and that can still sell pay-per-view (PPV) posts and messages, plus tips and other paid extras (Creator Center; Ultimate Guide to Features).

Usual platform fee: creators keep about 80% of Fan Payments before their own costs and tax (Terms). Follower count is not income. Unlock and tip totals are.
Visibility. “Free to join” means there is no monthly fee after someone follows. It does not automatically mean a logged-out visitor can see your feed on the open web. OnlyFans’ Creator Center and Features posts cited here do not settle that point; confirm with your live profile and share links rather than assuming open-web discovery.
Clear descriptions. Say what an unlock includes (format, count or length, and what the preview already showed) so buyers know what they are paying for. That reduces avoidable disputes; it is not a guarantee about refunds.
Complete free-page example (fictional)
Jordan (hypothetical) runs a soft fitness / outfit page. The same offer appears in the bio, free post, paid set and welcome message. Customs, live and always-on chat are not part of this example.
Bio
Free to follow — no monthly fee.
Open posts: gym outfits, BTS and soft teasers.
Paid photo sets unlock separately when I post them (clear captions + price).
I reply to messages when I can on weekdays; I am not always in chat.
One free post

The free post shows one look; this unlock is the rest of the set.
Illustrative fee math only: $12 unlock → about $9.60 after the usual 20% platform fee, before costs and tax.
Welcome message
Thanks for following — this page is free (no monthly fee).
You’ll see open teasers on the feed. When I drop a paid photo set, the caption lists what’s inside and the price before you unlock.
I check messages on weekdays when I can; I may not reply the same day. Tips are optional. I am not offering customs or live shows on this page right now.
Use this pattern for your niche: one free sample, one paid offer that matches it, and a welcome note that sets the same boundaries.
Feed teasers and PPV unlocks
What stays open
Post enough unlocked content that a new follower understands your style and boundaries—without giving away every paid drop for free.
What you lock
Features and Creator Center document PPV messages for all creators. Free accounts can also use PPV posts (and PPV streams once live is available). Set a price when you create the post or message; write a description before fans pay.
A simple pattern:
- Open teaser on the feed.
- Locked set or clip with a clear caption.
- A price that matches what is inside.
You do not need a large menu on day one. One clear paid offer type is enough to start.
Price tests. Whether you can change the price on an existing post or message after publish was not confirmed in the official posts cited here. Sell the next offer at the new price unless your live account clearly shows an edit path for that unlock.
Welcome message, tips and optional live
Welcome message
The Features guide documents an automatic welcome message: open Chats in settings and customize the message (Features). Use it to repeat what is free, how paid unlocks work and when you usually reply—same story as the bio.
Tips
Fans can tip streams, posts, DMs or the profile (Features). Tips are optional on a free page. A short pinned tip note is fine if it fits your brand; it is not required.
Live (optional)
Skipping live is a valid free-page setup. Go Live is not available to every creator immediately: Creator Center says it is enabled after a history of content and a high level of engagement with the community (no numeric threshold in that post); the Go Live help also points to Community Guidelines (Creator Center; How to Go Live). Once available, free profiles can set entry from $5 and a tip goal (How to Go Live). Until the control appears, open posts, PPV and a welcome message are enough.
Optional: free teaser page beside a paid page
Creator Center describes pairing a free profile with a paid one so teasers point to a fuller library. That only helps if you can maintain both pages and make the names/bios clearly different.
Only add a second account if:
- The free page will get real teasers on a schedule you can keep.
- Bios make clear which page is free and which is paid.
- The paid page still offers a clear reason to subscribe (library or access the free page does not duplicate).
- You have time for both calendars.

How to review results
Follower count alone cannot explain weak unlock sales. Check what you can measure before you change the whole model.
OnlyFans documents a Statistics area for earnings and performance (Creator Center; Features). Use whatever labels your account shows to review:
- Offer exposure — Views or profile visits for the teaser and unlock, where available.
- Purchases — Unlocks (and tips, if you track them).
- Earnings — Statements / earnings by content type if shown.
- Workload — Time spent posting and replying versus what those figures returned.
Also weigh audience fit, offer clarity and whether you have enough evidence (visibility and trials) to judge. High follows and low unlocks can mean weak exposure of the paid drop, a mismatched audience, an unclear caption, a price mismatch—or a sample that is still too small. That is not automatic proof that you, or the free-page model, failed.
If unlocks sell but messaging is unmanageable, shorten the reply window you promise. If you also run a paid page, check that the free page still describes the paid one accurately without emptying the paid feed.
