Promoting OnlyFans on Bluesky: adult labels and fit

Bluesky’s Community Guidelines (updated September 19, 2025) allow consensual adult sexual content, including fictional depictions, when it is appropriately labeled and subject to age restrictions. Non-adult creators can use the app too—adult permission is one policy fact, not a growth promise.

What Bluesky allows for adult content
Under Adult Content in the Community Guidelines:
- Consensual adult sexual content (including fictional depictions) is allowed when appropriately labeled and subject to appropriate age restrictions.
- Sexual content involving non-consensual activity is not allowed—including synthetic, simulated, illustrated or animated versions.
- Do not share, threaten to share, or promote tools to create intimate images or sexual content of anyone without express consent (including synthetic or digitally altered content).
- Do not create, share or promote sexual content involving realistic risk of death or serious injury.
- Do not engage in technology-facilitated abuse, harassment or unwanted advances.
Labeling is part of that allow rule. Bluesky’s 2025 Transparency Report notes that many sexual-content reports concerned mislabeling, and that an “Unlabeled Adult Content” report category saw heavy use after it launched.
Labels, viewer filters and enforcement
Adult labels in the composer
When your post includes media, open Labels in the composer (shield control). The dialog title is Add a content warning. Under Adult Content, pick the one category that fits (Bluesky social-app Labels UI):

You can select only one adult category on a post. Tap Done when finished. If Labels already has a selection, the button reads Labels added.
Clothing alone does not pick the category. A clothed pinup that is meant to arouse can be Suggestive; erotic nudity or sexual activity belongs under Adult; artistic non-erotic nudity belongs under Nudity.
Filtering versus enforcement
Bluesky’s Transparency Report states that self-labeling does not result in removal or downranking—it supports user choice. That is Bluesky’s reported stance on self-labels, not a visibility guarantee.
Accurate labels still pass through viewer preferences: people who leave adult content off, or who hide or warn on Suggestive / Nudity / Adult, will not see your media the same way opted-in viewers do. Custom feeds and third-party moderation (labeler) services can filter further. So: self-labeling helps you stay inside the allow rule and respect filters; it does not promise appearance in every feed or every person’s timeline.
Bluesky also applies automated labels. Treat that as a backstop—not a reason to skip your own warning.
Finding relevant conversations
Bluesky supports custom feeds (feed generators)—topic feeds created by users and organizations, alongside your following timeline (viewing feeds). In the Bluesky app, open Feeds, browse popular or suggested feeds, or search for a topic that matches your niche, then open feeds that look relevant and follow the accounts and threads you find there.
That is a way to locate conversations. It does not promise your posts will be included in any feed, ranked highly or convert to subscribers.
Other rules that matter for promotion
- Spam / disruption: Do not spam or repeatedly post in ways that disrupt normal conversation (Community Guidelines — Be Authentic).
- Undisclosed commercial content: Do not post undisclosed commercial, sponsored or advertising material without clearly identifying its commercial nature.
- Harassment: Anti-harassment rules still apply.
- Links: Profile or post links (including OnlyFans Campaign URLs) are separate from media labels. Label the media; describe the destination accurately.
When a Bluesky test makes sense
Judge the channel on:
- Audience relevance — Do people in your niche already talk and share there (check Feeds and search for your topics)?
- Posting preferences — Are you comfortable with short text-and-media posts and applying content warnings when media needs them?
- Available time — Can you spare a bounded test without dropping work that already pays?
- Actual results — After a fair try, do tracked profile clicks or attributed joins justify continuing?

Compact posting example (fictional)
Sam sells a paid OnlyFans page with weekly erotic photo sets.
Image: a close crop of Sam’s torso during a set—breasts exposed, posed for the camera, no sex act shown. That matches the composer’s Adult definition (“Sexual activity or erotic nudity”), not Nudity (artistic or non-erotic) and not Suggestive alone.
Composer: attach the image → Labels → select Adult → Done.

Profile: stage name; one Campaign tracking URL.
A second post the same week can be a clothed lighting tip with no adult media and no content warning—if nothing in the frame needs one.
